About Poetry
It is a kind of arts
It is a type of minimalism
It is all about experiences
It is a combination of words in our heart
The inspiration could be anything
Could be what you are thinking
Could be someone you are missing
With rhymes you can make your words pretty
The idea about it is to describe experiences
There are so much to experience in our lives
Might be something make you higher than the sky
Might be something that break you into pieces
I thought it was difficult
to write a poem
I thought it was hard
to let the inner feelings out
I was wrong
Because now I know
We can alway create our own piece of poem.

Hip-Hop Poetry
Lost Love by Rex Ho
No one know what is like,
No one know what is like,
To be stuck in a jail of heart.
Ain’t no things more frustrating alike,
Can’t press restart,
It ain’t video games.
“You made me so disappointed!”
She claims,
“I wasn’t meant to do those things...”
I say.
It didn’t work,
She leaves.
Oh my god,
The one who I lived with for several years left.
Oh my god,
There’s a severe pain inside my chest.
It’s too painful,
There’s no any possible way to cure it.
Except you come back to me,
Oh, please come back to me,
I’ll be whatever you want me to be,
I’ll cost anything to get you back.
Several years passed by,
There is no reason for me to cry.
In some night,
I’d think about this from time to time.
Even though I’ve got another girl in my arms;
You’ve got another guy in your mind,
One thing I know for sure,
We are born for each other.
If I got a chance to get you back to me,
If I got a chance to get you back to me,
I would give up anything,
Coz after all this,
It's you,
It's always been you.
Coz after all this,
It's you,
It's always been you.
Will you do the same as what I do?
I know you will,
I believe you will.
Description: This poem is about a relationship that is no longer exist. I got the motivation from a song called "Young And Beautiful." I heard it from the movie "The Great Gatsby." The chorus is "Will you still love me when I am no longer young and beautiful, Will you still love me when I got nothing but my aching soul..." My first thought was "Yes I will." If the one I talk about in this poem asks me the same question, then yes would be my answer.

Dear Mama revision
"Dear Mama"
You are appreciated
[Verse One: 2Pac]
When I was young me and my mama had disagreement
Seventeen years old kicked out on the streets
Though back at the time, I never thought I'd see her face
There's no woman alive that could take my mama's place
Suspended from school; and scared to go home, I was a fool
with the big boys, breaking all the rules
I shed tears with my baby sister
Over the years we were poorer than the other little kids
And even though we had different daddy's, the same drama
When things went wrong we'd blame mama
I reminice on the stress I caused, it was hell
Hugging on my mama from a jail cell
And who'd think in elementary?
Hey! I see the penitentiary, one day
And running from the police, that's right
Mama catch me, put a whooping to my backside
And even as a crack fiend, mama
You always was a black queen, mama
I finally understand
for a woman it doesn't easy trying to raise a man
You always was committed
A poor single mother on welfare, tell me how you did it
There's no way I can pay you back
But the plan is to show you that I understand
You are appreciated
[Chorus: Reggie Green & "Sweet Franklin" w/ 2Pac]
Lady...
Don't you know we love you? Sweet lady
Dear mama
Place no one above you, sweet lady
You are appreciated
Don't you know we love ya?
[second and third chorus, "And dear mama" instead of "Dear mama"]
[Verse Two: 2Pac]
Now ain't nobody tell us it was fair
No love from my daddy cause the coward wasn't there
He passed away and I didn't cry, cause my anger
wouldn't let me feel for a stranger
They say I'm wrong and I'm heartless, but all along
I was looking for a father he was gone
I hung around with the gang members, and even though they sold drugs
They showed a young brother love
I moved out and started really hanging
I needed money of my own so I started slang
I ain't guilty cause, even though I sell cocaine
It feels good putting money in your mailbox
I love paying rent when the rent's due
I hope ya got the diamond necklace that I sent to you
Cause when I was low you was there for me
And never left me alone because you cared for me
And I could see you coming home after work late
You're in the kitchen trying to fix us a hot plate
Ya just working with the scraps you was given
And mama made miracles every Thanksgiving
But now the road got rough, you're alone
You're trying to raise two bad kids on your own
And there's no way I can pay you back
But my plan is to show you that I understand
You are appreciated
[Chorus]
[Verse Three: 2Pac]
Pour out some liquor and I reminsce, cause through the drama
I can always depend on my mama
And when it seems that I'm hopeless
You say the words that can get me back in focus
When I was sick as a little kid
To keep me happy there's no limit to the things you did
And all my childhood memories
Are full of all the sweet things you did for me
And even though I act crazy
I gotta thank the Lord that you made me
There are no words that can express how I feel
You never kept a secret, always stayed real
And I appreciate, how you raised me
And all the extra love that you gave me
I wish I could take the pain away
If you can make it through the night there's a brighter day
Everything will be alright if ya hold on
It's a struggle everyday, gotta roll on
And there's no way I can pay you back
But my plan is to show you that I understand
You are appreciated

About War & Peace
War is something rage,
Something angry,
Something makes the world empty,
We hate to watch it happen frankly.
So many soldiers gave their lives,
For those who gave their best to defend,
A thing called freedom,
A thing that shouldn't be beaten.
I marvel all you did,
I marvel all you risked,
And all you gave,
All the lives you save.
We should cherish the peace we have now,
No more war in this world!
As we breathe right now,
Someone takes his last to defend our freedom.
Description: I got the idea to write this poem from a facebook page. It is a page about United States army's action world wide. They post photos so often and remind everyone being a solider is something dangerous but on the other hand, they are also defending our safe and freedom.

Reflection
The End and the Beginning
by Wislawa Szmborska
After every war
someone has to clean up.
Things won't
straighten themselves up, after all.
Someone has to push the rubble
to the sides of the road,
so the corpse-laden wagons can pass.
Someone has to get mired
in scum and ashes,
sofa-springs,
splintered glass,
and bloody rags.
Someone must drag in a girder
to prop up a wall.
Someone must glaze a window,
rehang a door.
Photogenic it's not,
and takes years.
All the cameras have left
for another war.
Again we'll need bridges
and new railway stations.
Sleeves will go ragged
from rolling them up.
Someone, broom in hand,
still recalls how it was.
Someone listens
and nods with unsevered head.
Yet others milling about
already find it dull.
From behind the bush
sometimes someone still unearths
rust-eaten arguments
and carries them to the garbage pile.
Those who knew
what was going on here
must give way to
those who know little.
And less than little.
And finally as little as nothing.
In the grass which has overgrown
causes and effects,
someone must be stretched out,
blade of grass in his mouth,
gazing at the clouds.
someone has to clean up.
Things won't
straighten themselves up, after all.
Someone has to push the rubble
to the sides of the road,
so the corpse-laden wagons can pass.
Someone has to get mired

My reflection: War means destroy, war means death, war means kill. Was is something that happens in some part of the world everyday. Hospitals, schools houses might be blown up. Someone's father, mother, friends might be killed. Soldiers are ordered to kill someone they don't even know. War is very brutal. It destroys everything. We will have to clean up and rebuild everything. It's the first picture in my mind when I first read this poem. And that's why I pick this one.

Cultural Poem - Home
I am here,
On the island,
It is where I from,
And it is where I belong.
It has so many people from so many nation,
More than your imagination;
It has so many culture combine all together,
Multi culture make this nation better.
It has lots of festivals,
Make our life colorful;
It has lots of temples,
Make us has strong fundamentals.
Don’t be afraid to give,
Anything to where we live,
Because it is our nation,
Because it is our home.
Description: To let the readers know more about Taiwanese culture(festival, temple) and the consistence of the society(people from other nations, combine of culture.) And tell the readers that don't afraid to give and to love our nation.
